Family Support Pack items
Each year in South Australia an average of 60 children are newly diagnosed with cancer. The majority of families who have a child diagnosed with cancer, are referred immediately to the Childhood Cancer Association by the social workers at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

When the Childhood Cancer Association Counsellors subsequently meet with the family to explain the support and services available to them, each family is also given a Family Support Pack.

The pack contains many practical items of support to assist in making the childhood cancer diagnosis easier, and to help with the numerous hospital stays and appointments that are ahead for the family. Each pack costs approximately $300.

The following specific contents included in the Family Support pack, cost the Association approximately $60 per pack. Based on a UCF grant of $2,000, this would enable the Association to supply these specified contents for approximately 33 Family Packs, in order to support families with a child newly diagnosed with cancer.
