Fridge for Community Foodbank
A UCF grant of $2,000 was awarded to Foodbank SA to purchase a fridge to be used in a food voucher outlet to be established at Uniting Care Wesley at Bowden.

Foodbank SA’s core role is to alleviate food insecurity, hunger and poverty. It works as a central agency to source/procure, store and redistribute foods to help underpin the essential food-relief activities of over 600 charitable and community programs across SA.

Bowden will be the first Community Foodbank established by Foodbank SA and will provide emergency food assistance to individuals and families in need. The upright freezer and fridge units are an essential element of this new program, to ensure the Community Foodbank can supply and deliver high value-added protein meat and dairy products for families in need.

All clients using the new voucher outlet will be referred, following the usual agency process, by existing welfare agencies operating in the district. Clients will be referred  with their voucher, which will be redeemable at the outlet.
