Skills to Succeed Academy
Dress For Success Adelaide were the recipient of a $2000 grant in 2015 when they first opened their doors to clients. That grant was instrumental in providing job seekers with sales and POS skills which has ultimately assisted them into various field of employment.
Dress For Success Adelaide have been a resounding force for good by any measure and they report- In 2016/2017 Dress for Success Adelaide served 359 women taking the total of women served by our affiliate to 586. Of the 586 women equipped with employable skills 265 were successful in gaining employment – a result of 45%. We conducted 810 Career Support Program appointments, provided 2,754 pieces of clothing and accessories to the value of $34,770 to 526 clients (NB: not all clients need to access clothing for interview or employment suiting).
Our service has improved our client’s ability through the employability foundation skills to participate more effectively in the marketplace, by increasing confidence and improving attitudes and creating strategies to job search. With your support we will be able to assist hundreds of disadvantaged youth and women into employment each year.
The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
In September 2017 the UCF Board received an application for grant funds to assist Dress For Success Adelaide to purchase a laptop and projector thereby giving them the flexibility to make the Skills to Succeed Academy programme mobile.
The Skills to Succeed Academy programme aims to deliver a highly interactive online and workbook career support programme specifically designed to assist disadvantaged youth in the 17-24 cohort build skills, resilience and confidence to make career choices and develop key employability skills so they will be able to gain and sustain long term employment.
It is anticipated that the programme will provide up to 50 disadvantaged, unemployed youth 240 hours of career support and guidance through the Skills to Succeed Academy over a period of six months.
The UCF Board were pleased to approve this application for $2,014 to assist upgrading skills for those seeking to gain employment.
